Nkuringo gorilla family was habituated in 1997. With 12 gorilla individuals which include 2 infants, 3 juveniles, 2 sub-adults, 2 adult females, and 1 silverback. Nkuringo gorilla family is the first family in the Bwindi forest to record the birth of twins.

Bushaho gorilla family has 8 family members with 1 infant, 1 juvenile, 1 sub-adult, 3 adult females, 1 black back, and 1 silverback. It was headed by Bahati a dominant silverback.

What is the cost of a permit for trekking gorillas of Nkuringo?

Like in other Bwindi sectors, gorilla trekking permit is going at his permit costs 700USD for foreign nonresidents per person, $600 for foreign residents, and 250,000 Ugandan shillings for East African citizens per person per trek. A gorilla permit can be purchased from either Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) or you can book with Africa Adventure Vacations. You are also advised to book your gorilla permit in advance especially for those who wish to travel during the peak season. Trekking gorillas of the Nkuringo sector takes like 2-6 hours but it depends on the speed of trekkers and the allocated gorilla group. Only 8 people are allowed to trek a gorilla group every day and tourists below 15 years of age are not accepted to trek.
