Gorilla habituation in this park will require travelers to wake up early in the morning and head to the briefing centre where rangers will teach them about the dos and don’ts of the gorilla habituation activity. After a briefing, a group of four people are accompanied by rangers, researchers, and conservationists to the jungle to search for mountain gorillas that are undergoing habituation. During the search, the trekkers get opportunities to see some of the park’s animals such as buffaloes, elephants, giant forest hogs, duikers, birds, and different trek species. On meeting the mountain gorilla family, the trekkers are given 4 hours to be with the mountain gorillas as they go through their daily activities, making them get used to human presence, taking photos, and learn more about their behaviors.
The gorilla habituation experience is only available in the Rushaga and Nkuringo sectors and was created to assist those who have limited vacation time but would like to spend more time with the endangered mountain gorillas.
