The city of Kigali is very interesting and you will explore several administrative structures, the museums, and see the economic activities of the people of Rwanda and several districts. The Kigali safari will start by exploring the Kandt House museum, which is also known as the place where Dr. Richard Kandt was tracing the origin of the river Nile, and you will continue to learn more about this wonderful destination and Kigali city. After this safari, we will drive further to the Belgian memorial that is dedicated to the Belgian soldiers, especially those who died during the genocide, and you will learn how best the unity has fostered the development of Kigali city. You will also explore the Kigali Genocide museum, which shows all the camping against the genocide plan that was carried out by the RPF following the withdrawal of the United Nationalities troops, leaving the selected Tutsi under the generosity of the Genocide, and how the RPF/A powers in the liberation fight took the one-sided option to stop the Genocide, rescue Genocide victims, and rout the Genocidal forces. The 12.7mm machine gun, which contributed to the containment of the growing destructive forces, is one of the external landmarks of the CAG Museum. After your lunch, you will proceed to tour the Gisozi Genocide Memorial, which is the final burial place where the 250000 victims of the genocide were buried. The museum honors the memory of the over 1,000,000 Rwandans who died in the 1994 Tutsi genocide. Day 4: Drive to Musanze district-Visit the Guardian Village and the Karisoke Research Center from Kigali.
We shall drive to the northern Rwanda Province in Musanze where you will be able to explore the Guardian Village, which is close to the Volcanoes National Park. This place provides a beautiful and wonderful safari, especially the cultural experience that has come from the ashes of Rwanda and the people who were the poachers. The safari guardian walks comprised the locals who were part of the hunters hunting in the park. The gorilla guardian village has ensured that these people come closer and were rehabilitated, and now they come for the conservation, as this provides a clear and cultural experience among others. The Gorilla guardian village will be wonderful and ensure that the visitors have a wonderful gorilla trekking experience. This will include learning about culture and traditional foods as well as using the local herbals to treat themselves. All these can be enhanced by adding the village nature walk safaris. We shall have a break and later drive to the Karisoke research center, which is the reason why the endangered mountain gorillas are still existing because of the great efforts by Diane Fossey, and her contribution will be of great importance. Karisoke now oversees day-to-day assurance and monitoring of mountain gorillas, as well as many science and exploration projects, educational initiatives, and community well-being and improvement projects. Since its inception in 1967, Karisoke has amassed an unmatched amount of data about mountain gorillas and their habitat since its inception, and it attracts researchers and scientific understudies from all over the world. We will eventually continue and arrive at the Rubavu district at around 06pm to check into an inn and spend the night there.
Day 5: Tours to Rubavu, hot spring safari, boat ride, and Lake Kivu relations
Today, after breakfast, we will continue our 12-day Rwanda adventure by exploring the town of Rubavu, which is located in the Rwanda Western Province. The nearest town to here is Gisenyi, and this is also near Goma, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and thus the visitors will be able to enjoy this great safari activity. After this, be on the afternoon boat cruise on Lake Kivu to explore and have many lake views. You can later relax, swim, and enjoy the cool breath of the Lake Kivu. You will be spending the day here up to around 7pm, when you will return to your lodge for dinner and the overnight stay.
Day 6: Go to the Bisesero Genocide Memorial Site.
Today in the morning, we shall leave the Rubazi and drive to the Karongi district. The distance here will last for about two hours and twenty-three minutes. The drive is beautiful as you enjoy the country’s beautiful hills and you pass through the Congo-Nile Divene road that is around the lake shore. When we arrive in Karongi, we will check into a hotel, have lunch, and then conclude our visit at the Bisesero Genocide Memorial Site, one of Rwanda’s six major memorial communities. The Bisesero Genocide Memorial Site is a resting place for 40,000 people who, unusually, offered some protection and asked French peacekeeping soldiers for assistance. The soldiers were not given any orders to mediate, so they withdrew from the slaughter. Around Bisesero, 40,000 Rwandans kicked the bucket. We’ll finish up at about 7:00 p.m. for dinner and will stay there for the whole night.
Day 7: Take a boat ride to explore several islands before visiting the environmental museum.
We begin with boat journeys to unique islands in Lake Kivu, such as Napoleon Island, which is home to over 5000 fruit bats, King Island, Queen Island, Monkey Island, and Peace Island. Indeed, during this safari, you will get the chance to explore the place where the German welders abandoned their boats during the later global conflict and where their manufacturing factories were located near Kivu Lake, as well as take in the breathtaking view of the Karongi and Rutsiro mountains. After seeing each of the islands in Kivu Lake, we will have lunch and then visit the Environmental Gallery, which is intended to demonstrate the interdependence of humans and nature, with a focus on their harmonious coexistence in the Stymphalian bowl. Its purpose is to increase public awareness of natural mindfulness while also preserving information on the area’s traditional ingenuity. Our excursion will end at 06:30 p.m., and we will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park on Day 8 for canopy walks.
Today we walk up early in the morning, have breakfast, and move to Nyengwe Forest National Park to enjoy the canopy walk. Within one hour, we will have arrived at the Uwinka visitor reception, where we will have lunch and later go for the canopy walks where the visitors will travel on the bridge that was erected between the trees and raised about 70 meters above the forest floor, which means that the vistors will enjoy the forest on top of the bridge. Aside from the freshness in the air and the fantastic ethereal perspective on the trees, you will also enjoy the views of the magnificent birds that fly across as you walk. It was opened in 2010 and is the only one of its kind in East Africa and the third on the African continent. This 90-meter-long overhang walk way also offers one-of-a-kind eye-to-eye encounters with butterflies, birds, and monkeys. The current Rwanda adventure and gorilla trekking safari to Nyungwe will come to an end after a visit to a shade. After that, drive to the Huye district and check in around 07pm for the overnight stay.
Day 9: Visit the Kings Palace Museum and the Ethnographic Museum before driving to Kigali.
As usual, we will wake up early in the morning and have breakfast before we start our journey to Huye district. After that, we shall drive and start by exploring the Ethnographical museum, which was built in 1987 with its current, outstanding ethnographic collection. Its seven exhibitions feature historical, ethnographic, creative, and archeological artifacts that are accompanied by visual aids, providing visitors with a comprehensive understanding of Rwandan culture. Huye is located 132 kilometers south of Kigali, Rwanda’s capital. The Ethnographic Museum is one of the Institute of National Museums of Rwanda’s eight historical centers.
After our lunch is served, our safari continues to the King’s Castle Gallery, which is the home of King Mutara III Rudahigwa, and the Royal Palace, which was largely assembled. This palace provides a detailed look at Rwanda’s traditional seat of government; it is a noteworthy gallery that has been restored to its nineteenth-century state and constructed entirely of traditional materials. Long-horned traditional cows, known in Kinyarwanda as “Inyambo,” have recently been given because cows are such an important part of Rwandan culture. The burial of King Mutara III and his significant other, Queen Rosalie Gicanda, can also be seen on the adjacent hill of Mwima. As our expedition comes to a conclusion on this day, we return home and arrive in Kigali at about 7:00 p.m. for check-in and supper.
Drive to Akagera National Park on Day 10
Yes, today, early in the morning, after breakfast, we shall drive to Akagera National Park. In the course of getting to the leisure location in Akagera, you will be reviewing and studying numerous accounts of Rwanda and taking part in the perspective on the country’s landscape. We’ll do an early workout. The game drives here are like opening presents, and each one holds a fresh surprise as nature reveals its fortunes in the form of wild life such as bison, impalas, elands, topis, Maasai giraffes, monkeys, savannah birds, civets, leopards, hyenas, and serval cats. The game drives also indicate that you will be accompanied by an aide who is extremely knowledgeable about the foliage and fauna located in the recreation area. After a wildlife drive, they may take a boat ride on Ihema Lake in the sunset hours. During this incredible campaign, you will cruise along the water’s edge, past numerous goliath hippos, and observe a few crocodiles, some in the shallows of the water and others lazing on the shore. Furthermore, you will observe a variety of water, so true birders will want to identify a large number of species.
