Day 2: Depart Nairobi for the Masai Mara National Reserve in the morning.
This is the opening journey of our 13-day Kenya and Tanzania road safari trip. The journey from Nairobi to Masai Mara takes about 6 hours, and our Africa adventure safari guide will find you at your hotel early in the morning for the pickup, and the driver will drive you in the private 4×4 land cruiser Jeep as you clearly see the sunrise on your new safari day. We’ll have breakfast in the little village of Narok before continuing on to the Masai Mara. We should arrive in the middle of the morning. The park’s undulating hills and distinctive acacia trees, which are displayed in front of you, invite you to explore. This is the region’s most diverse environment, including both large and tiny animals. Your guide is familiar with the region and will take you to the best spots to see lions, leopards, cheetahs, and other big game.
We’ll stop for a picnic lunch and unwind under the wide grassland and brilliant Mara sky. Then it’s on to more game drives and exploration. As we return to our safari lodge or tented camp for dinner and repose in the evening, look for a magnificent sunset.
Lodging options: Mara Simba Lodge (Luxury), Mara River Camp (Comfort) and Enkorok (Standard).
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Day 3: Spend the entire day in the Masai Mara National Reserve viewing wildlife.
It’s time for an early morning game drive to soak in the new day—the gentle light dances across the fields and trees as the wildlife awakens from the night. This is a day to do as much or as little exploring as you choose, although you may also rest at your hotel. Simply talk to your guide; he’ll always be able to offer advice. If you visit between July and October, you’ll be able to see the Great Migration, an annual event in which countless herds of wildebeests, zebra, and gazelle migrate into the Mara in search of water and grass. We’ll go down to the Mara River to see the hippos and crocodiles that live there. Large numbers of predators like lions and cheetahs are also waiting for the moving herds. Nature’s drama may sometimes be witnessed in all of its ferocious intensity right in front of our eyes. Take advantage of an optional hot air balloon safari above the dawning park to add to the drama of your Africa safari. Rise with the sun till the Mara’s grandeur is fully seen below. It was an incredible experience. We provide an optional visit to a nearby community to give your safari some cultural depth. Meet the Maasai people, learn about their traditional way of life, and possibly purchase some of their handicrafts and brilliant beading. We’ll return to our lodging for dinner and an overnight stay.
Lodging options include Mara Simba Lodge (Luxury), Mara River Camp (Comfort) and Enkorok (Standard).
