Our 2 days Materuni cultural tourism safari provides our visitors with a thrilling experience where they encounter the Materuni community. This includes the village walks, including the guided walks to the hiking encounter, the local education facility, the traditional dance and drama demonstration of the Chagga people, tasting the local cuisine, as well as having the experience of the local brew making. This is so much fun. This is also a wonderful destination for the home stay encounters of the wonderful visitors.

Materuni Village is located in the Uru area, which is known as the home of the Chagga people. The safari will  start and end in Arusha, and it is also close to Moshi town, at only 15 kilometers. You can get to Materuni village from Moshi town. The Chaga (also called Chagga, or Wachagga) are Bantu-speaking inborn Africans and form the third-largest ethnic group in Tanzania. They customarily live on the southern and eastern inclines of Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, and Moshi.

Once in the village and within the corporation of a well-knowledgeable and expert excursion guide , the safari starts with a visit to Materuni waterfalls, located a 40-minute stroll away. You’ll learn about the village’s economy, agriculture, and cultural life along the journey, and the handbook will describe the local animals and vegetation. You will be captivated by this unique setting as soon as you enter the 90-meter-high waterfall. If you don’t mind, bring a swimsuit and towel because there’s a lovely area that calls for a plunge, and you’re welcome to use the regular pool. The typical Chagga cuisine includes rice/pilau, local vegetables, and a variety of natural goods from the area. Without a doubt, we’re on the lookout for exceptional dietary requirements.

Following that, you’ll be involved in traditional coffee processing techniques as well as the process of manufacturing natural Materuni coffee. You’ll also learn about how coffee is grown, dried, and roasted. You’re welcome to listen, move, and sing with the Chagga ladies while you stake your claim on a cup of coffee – a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture. Afterward in the evening, you’re welcome to cook a conventional Chagga dish along with Mother Agnes for supper. After supper, you’ll have time to unwind.

Day 1: Departure from Arusha for Materuni Village

Our two-day Materuni cultural tourism safari will begin in the early morning around 0800 hours with a pick-up from your Arusha town residence by an Africa adventure safari guide. You will be taken by a local, knowledgeable guide after you arrive in the hamlet, and the tour will begin with a visit to the Materuni waterfalls, which are a 40-minute walk away. Along the way, you may learn about the town’s economy, agrarian life, and tribal social life of the nearby Chagga people.

At the waterfalls, you’ll appreciate the site and get a chance to swim at the bottom of the waterfall. (Remember to bring your swimsuit.)1300 hours: Afterward, you’ll return to Materuni town, where you’ll have a conventional Chagga lunch. You too will have the opportunity to taste a few nearby banana lagers!

The afternoon starts with a coffee revel. You can learn about how coffee is grown, dried, roasted, and processed right here. You’ll be invited to assist with the grinding of the coffee.

The grinding of the coffee is usually followed by the singing of conventional songs and dances—an amusing way to immerse yourself in the nearby tradition. Last but not least, you’ll have the threat of tasting the coffee you made.Your guide will take you on a brief walk to the pinnacle of the village, where there’s a first rate spot to revel in the sundown with a view of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Later in the evening, you are invited to prepare a conventional Chagga dish together with Mama Agnes for dinner. After dinner, you may have time to loosen up.

Your overnight lodging is in a relaxed tent at Mama Agnes’s campsite. At the same time, as you fall asleep, you will have satisfied memories of the day inside the center of the peaceful and natural surroundings of the camp.

Day 2. Explore the Materuni village and drive back to Arusha.

At around 0800 hours the following morning, you may be awakened by the smell of freshly prepared espresso. After breakfast, you will have the opportunity to take a brief walk to visit a number one college.

Later, inside the village, you may say good-bye to your hosts as you experience farewell birthday celebration songs from the Materuni traditional dance group before returning to Arusha, Moshi, Marangu, or Kilimanjaro International Airport Airport.
