Day 1: Arrive in Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Yes, our 4 day Rwanda gorilla trekking safari begins with a pick-up from Kigali International Airport by our safari representative, together with the safari guide, who will pick you up immediately upon arrival at Kigali International Airport. They will warmly welcome you, greet you, introduce themselves, and then drive you to Kigali, which is also the capital city of Rwanda. You’ll rest in a hotel or restaurant, rehydrate, and eat lunch. After lunch, it’s time to explore Kigali City. You will be driven through the cleanest city in East Africa, visiting the genocide memorial sites, the markets, and several conference centers. This tour will tell you more about Rwanda, and by the time you finish it, you will have already learned about the culture and history of the country that you are in. After that, you will drive for about 2 to 3 hours to Volcanoes National Park, the home of the gorillas. The distance between Kigali and Volcanoes National Park is only 80 kilometers, and the roads are well tarmac, ensuring a comfortable journey. You will arrive at the lodge to check in, have dinner, and later for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park.

This is the major highlight of our 4 day Rwanda gorilla trekking safari. You will wake up early in the morning, have a heavy and healthier breakfast in the morning, which will be served to you at the lodge, and after, get ready with your proper dressing code, get into the vehicle, and drive to Kinigi Park headquarters for the gorilla trekking briefing session. The briefing session will give you the guidelines and regulations that you will follow when trekking the gorillas in Volcanoes National Park. This is the most popular tourist activity in Africa as you will enjoy the amazing and a fantastic views of the Virunga volcanoes and are close to seeing the endangered mountain gorillas. Once found, you will see their feeding habitats, how they play and interact, take photos and ask any questions that you may have about the mountain gorillas. You will do all this in one hour. As you trek through the jungle, you will also be able to encounter other animals such as forest elephants, buffaloes, and various other species of animals. After this exercise of seeing the gorillas, you will walk back to the starting point and be driven back to the lodge. You can also decide to go to the local community or relax and stay at the lodge waiting for the next activity.

Day 3: Tracking Golden Monkeys in Volcanoes National Park

We wish you a wonderful evening. You will enjoy the early morning cup of tea or coffee with some snacks, and after that, you will drive to the park headquarters, where you will be received by the park rangers to guide you through the experience of golden monkey trekking. Golden monkeys are also found in the Volcanoes National Park. The process of finding them is similar to that of the gorilla trekking experience. However, for them, they are active and they like playing. You will also see them moving around the trees and feeding. However, you can decide to hike and see the Dian Fossey tomb. Diane Fossey was an American primatologist who dedicated her life to the conservation of the endangered mountain gorillas. This activity is just optional and is not included in this itinerary. After that, you will return to the lodge, have lunch, and walk into the community to interact with the local community before returning back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Travel to Kigali for a city tour before departing.

Wake up and have a relaxed breakfast at the hotel, and after checking out, make sure that you have not left anything inside the lodge, and drive to Kigali City to arrive in time to take a tour around the city to explore various pottery projects, markets, handcrafts, the art gallery, and the Rwanda National Museum. After that, you will have lunch and later be dropped back at Kigali International Airport for your flight back home. And this marks the end of our 4 day Rwanda gorilla trekking safari.
