6-day Samburu Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara safari adventure
per person
6-day Samburu, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara safari adventure begins and ends in Nairobi at your hotel or at the international airport. From Kenya’s northern border to its southern boundary, this is an in-depth African safari with lots of time in numerous unique parks. Because Samburu National Reserve is off the usual route, you’ll encounter fewer people and have more time to see animals. The Masai Mara National Reserve is located in the Serengeti National Park, which attracts millions of wildebeests each year. In the meantime, we’ll stop at Lake Nakuru National Park, which is home to leopards, rhinos, and even fuchsia flamingos. Imagine acacia woodlands dotted with giraffes, waterfalls, and a blue lake dotted with flamingos and other birds. At Samburu, elephants reign supreme; expect to witness herds of them trampling through this vast, undeveloped park. You’ll also be on the lookout for lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalo, and a few unusual species. The Masai Mara is noted for its lion prides and other huge cats, as well as a diverse ecology that supports over 95 animal species. On this picture-perfect safari in Africa, you’ll see the classic acacia trees found in images all over the world.
Have you ever heard of a Somali ostrich, a gerenuk, or an oryx? These unique and endangered gems can be found grazing on the grasslands of Samburu Park. We’ll also get the chance to meet the Samburu people, a local indigenous group, and get a first-hand look at their way of life. Rhinos are becoming increasingly scarce, yet at a particular refuge near Lake Nakuru, these quiet and gentle beasts are thriving. We’ll aim for a glimpse, but we’ll also keep an eye out for baboons, monkeys, giraffes, and, of course, the beautiful pink flamingos gathered around the lake’s shores. During the Great Migration season, the Masai Mara is home to nature’s most dramatic wildlife migration. Thousands of wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, topi, and other animals are expected to rush across the Mara River in their eternal search for water and higher grass. On your safari in Africa, it’s the ultimate manifestation of wildlife.

Day 2: A full day of wildlife viewing in Samburu National Reserve.
This is your day to go on an infinite number of game drives. However, you may arrange some downtime at your lodging. Just talk to your driver/guide about it. You are in charge of creating the safari of your dreams. We’ll go to the Ewaso Nyriro River’s banks, where the park’s hungry animals congregate for water. Game viewing is active and diverse in this area. The “Samburu Special Five” — the Grevy’s Zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx — are reported to be spotted in Samburu. The steep topography of this huge park is also home to African wild dogs. The adjacent Shaba and Buffalo Springs Reserves have a bit more vegetation, as well as lava terraces and other volcanic landforms. We may also visit the Samburu people, who are the indigenous people of this historic area. These indigenous tribes, related to the Maasai, may be met, and their lifestyles and residences can be seen up close. After that, you will return to the lodge for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Samburu game drive in the morning, then drive to Lake Nakuru National Park (approximately 4–5 hours).
We’ll get up early to take in the park as the gentle light ushers in the new day’s fauna. After that, we’ll journey down the Great Rift Valley’s bottom to Lake Nakuru. We’ll stop along the way to see the whirling mists of Thompson’s Falls at Nyahururu. Take in the serene lake and its surroundings—waterfalls, acacia bush, forested hills, and towering rock escarpments—as you arrive at Lake Nakuru. Flamingos, cormorants, kingfishers, ostriches, storks, and eagles are among the park’s many bird species. Aside from that, its acacia forests are home to baboons, monkeys, leopards, giraffes, and white rhinos along the seashore. A large population of black rhinos lives in this particular reserve. This little park is a living gem because of its color, variety, and wildlife. Let’s unwind over supper at our Lake Nakuru lodging after a long day.

But now it’s time to return to Masai territory and explore the Masai Mara, Kenya’s most popular park. When you first arrive in the park and see the rolling hills, you’ll be filled with anticipation as your guide tells you about the many lion prides and other abundant species that call the Mara home. The Masai Mara, known as the region’s richest ecology, will bring several views of big cats as well as untold numbers of wildebeests and zebras. We’ll rest up for a full day of wildlife drives by settling into our Mara accommodations for the evening.
Lodging options; Mara Simba Lodge (Luxury), Mara River Camp (Comfort) and Enkorok (Standard).

Day 5: Spend the entire day on a game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve.
It’s time for an early morning game drive to soak in the new day—the gentle light dances across the fields and trees as the wildlife awakens from the night. This is a day to do as much or as little exploring as you choose, although you may also rest at your hotel. Simply talk to your guide; he’ll always be able to offer advice. If you visit between July and October, you’ll be able to see the Great Migration, an annual event in which countless herds of wildebeests, zebra, and gazelle migrate into the Mara in search of water and grass. We’ll go down to the Mara River to see the hippos and crocodiles that live there. Large numbers of predators like lions and cheetahs are also waiting for the moving herds. Nature’s drama may sometimes be witnessed in all of its ferocious intensity right in front of our eyes. Take advantage of an optional hot air balloon safari above the dawning park to add to the drama of your Africa safari. Rise with the sun till the Mara’s grandeur is fully seen below. It was an incredible experience. We provide an optional visit to a nearby community to give your safari some cultural depth. Meet the Maasai people, learn about their traditional way of life, and possibly purchase some of their handicrafts and brilliant beading. We’ll return to our lodging for dinner and an overnight stay.
