This is a day to do as much or as little exploring as you choose, although you may also rest at your hotel. Simply talk to your guide; he’ll always be able to offer advice. If you visit between July and October, you’ll be able to see the Great Migration, an annual event in which countless herds of wildebeests, zebra, and gazelle migrate into the Mara in search of water and grass. We’ll go down to the Mara River to see the hippos and crocodiles that live there. Large numbers of predators like lions and cheetahs are also waiting for the moving herds. Nature’s drama may sometimes be witnessed in all of its ferocious intensity right in front of our eyes. Take advantage of an optional hot air balloon safari above the dawning park to add to the drama of your Africa safari. Rise with the sun till the Mara’s grandeur is fully seen below. It was an incredible experience. We provide an optional visit to a nearby community to give your safari some cultural depth. Meet the Maasai people, learn about their traditional way of life, and possibly purchase some of their handicrafts and brilliant beading. We’ll return to our lodging for dinner and an overnight stay.
