Day 1: Upon arrival at Kigali Internal Airport, you will be met and driven to your Kigali hotel.

Your 9 Day Rwanda wildlife and primate safari begins with your arrival at Kigali International Airport today. Here you will be picked by Africa Adventure Vacations Limited representatives together with the safari guide for a meet and greet encounter. Later, you will be briefed on your safari itinerary and be driven to your booked hotel in Kigali, where you will be picked up the following morning for the day’s safari activities.

Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner

Day 2. Pickup from the hotel and drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Today, you will wake up early in the morning, have breakfast that is served by the hotel, and then drive to Butare, which is the next city in Rwanda, after Kigali, and is home to several historic and cultural sites. Here you will be able to visit several institutions of learning, including the museums, the research institute, and the university. As you drive, you will make an enroute stopover to explore the Nyanza housing, which is known as the kings’ palace, and enjoy other interesting places such as the woodcarvings, basketry, and other handcrafted species. After that, you will drive to Butare city in the afternoon, where you will make a stopover for lunch. Later, after lunch, you will drive to Nyungwe and check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe Forest National Park

Early in the morning, wake up amidst the songs of birds and have your morning breakfast served by your lodge. Because the chimpanzee trekking is a little long, you will  go with the packed lunch to the park headquarters where you will receive information about the chimpanzee trekking experience. After the briefing, you will enter into the jungle led by the ranger guide and the armed ranger and start looking for the chimpanzees. As you are looking for the chimpanzees, there are other monkeys and primates that you will come across, including blue monkeys, mangabeys, colobus monkeys, and several species of birds.  After seeing the chimps in the Nyungwe Forest National Park, you will return to your lodge and relax for the evening, as we believe you gained a lot of experience with the chimp trekking safari.

Day 4: Depart for Kibuye Town from Nyungwe Forest.

In the morning, you will enjoy the breakfast prepared at the lodge in Nyungwe and later depart for Kibuye town together with your travel safari guide. You’ll drive past tea estates and examine Lake Kivu’s shoreline. The most beautiful of the three hotel towns on Lake Kivu is Kibuye. You’ll arrive at Kibuye around midday. Following the Nyungwe exercises, a few tourists will be invited to spend some time relaxing on the shores of Lake Kivu. Lake Kivu is a fascinating lake with a massive volume of disintegrating gas in its deep waters. Later, you’ll check into your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Drive to Rubavu or Gishenyi

We shall drive in the north-east direction, totally different from Lake Kivu, after we have finished having our breakfast. You will have the opportunity to see people’s daily routines in the open, as they have been for a long time, largely unchanged. This is a popular tourist excursion that allows visitors to view people working in their fields, growing bananas, cassava, sorghum, beans, rice, potatoes, and even espresso or coffee plantations. There are also a few massive tea manors, settlements, infinite minuscule blockworks, and a slew of other structures.  We’ll arrive in Gisheyi around lunchtime and check into your lodge for lunch and socializing. Arrive at Gisenyi in time for lunch, then check into the Lake Kivu Serena Hotel for supper and a brief stay.

Day 6: Volcanoes National Park gorilla trekking experience

Today you have a heavy breakfast in the morning and after drive to the Volcanoes National Park which is located in Musanze district. You will drive straight to the park headquarters to receive a briefing about the gorilla trekking experience. This is the time when you also know which gorilla family you will be able to trek with on this particular day and the guides that you will move with. After that, walk into the woods and search for mountain gorillas, starting where they were the day before until you find them. You’ll see them going about their daily lives, such as taking care of their children, climbing trees, and simply unwinding. After you’ve switched off your sparkle, take your best photographs. This entire activity should take no more than one hour, after which you should return to the recreation area offices for your gorilla after declaration. Return to your accommodation for lunch and some relaxation. Return to the cabin for supper and short-term after an evening journey to the lake to observe the unusual caverns around the lake and snap identification images with heaps of fun postures close to the caverns.

Day 7: Drive to Akagera National Park, stopping for an evening game drive in the park en-route.

Today we leave Musanze district and, after having breakfast, drive to Akagera National Park. Take an in-transit game drive to see if you can spot some of the wild, untamed life. Arrive late in the evening and check into the Akagera game hotel or the Ruzizi Safari stop for dinner and a brief stay.

Day 8: Morning game drive followed by an afternoon boat cruise

Today is a fully packed safari day in Akagera National Park. Our day will start early in the morning with a cup of tea, which will be served to you by the well-trained service providers, and after that, you will proceed to the jungle to spot more wildlife in Akagera National Park. We wake up early so that we can spot the early morning risers and the cats, such as lions and leopards, as they go to their hideouts. We hope that this game drive will be rewarding with the wonderful views of the herd of elephants, buffaloes, the impala, the rhinos, the topis, zebras, and bush bucks, among other several animal species. As time goes by, you will return to the lodge after spending about four hours on a game drive in the Akagera wilderness. At the hotel, you will have a short break and later have lunch. After lunch, you will drive to Lake Ihema to participate in a boat cruise where you get up close to various aquatic and land species, such as crocodiles, hippos, and several bird species that will be spotted. After two to three hours of the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 9: Kigali city tours and leave for the Kigali city tours to end the safari.

Today you will wake up early in the morning, have your breakfast safari, and then drive to Kigali City for the wonderful city tour. This will include visits to a few specialty shops with stunning show-stoppers, the Belgium memorial, the Kigali authentic gallery, and the Rwanda annihilation historical center, all of which are excellent places to learn about Rwanda’s history. After that, proceed to the airport for your return flight, which will naturally mark the end of your 9 day Rwanda wildlife and primate safari.
