5 Days Mountain Kilimanjaro Climbing safari using Murangu route

per person

This 5 Days Mountain Kilimanjaro Climbing safari using Murangu route safari trip will lead you to Kilimanjaro Mountain as you follow the Marangu path to Mount Kilimanjaro’s summit is by far the most popular. This may be due in part to the fact that the Marangu way is the cheapest, but it may also be due to the fact that the Marangu route can be completed in 5 days, allowing you to reach the summit one day sooner than the Machame route. Due to a shorter acclimatization time, this isn’t always the ideal option. However, the Marangu route allows you to spend an additional day on the mountain for acclimatization. The most usual ascent is the Marangu Route. Its comparatively simple 5-day trip ascends Kilimanjaro from the foot of Kibo. The Marangu Route is also the oldest and most popular, attracting over 80% of trekkers on Kilimanjaro at one point. It is also known as the Coca-Cola Route, from which the final summit bid is.

Marangu is the only route where all overnight breaks are in specially constructed huts. If you want to take this route, it’s best to pay and reserve ahead of time to ensure that you get a hotel. Before crossing the barren Saddle before going to Kibo Hut, the Marangu path passes to the south of Mawenzi. Because most people finish the route in under 5 days, it has an incredibly low success rate in terms of bringing hikers to the summit. If you want to maximize your chances of climbing Uhuru Peak, add an extra day to your itinerary for acclimatization. This should be done at Horombo Hut, from where you may go on a variety of intriguing side treks to explore the Mountain’s different aspects.

Day 1: Depart from Arusha to  Mandara

Pick-up from your accommodation in Arusha at 8:00 a.m. and travel to Moshi, where you will meet at the Marangu Park Gate to begin your three-hour climb to Mandara Hut, covering 9 kilometers. On your first night on Kilimanjaro, we’re at 2,774 meters above sea level. Drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (45-60 minutes) after breakfast and briefing, register, and begin the climb. The Mandara campsite is reached by walking through the rainforest. A visit to Maundi Crater is a great opportunity to get a glimpse of the surrounding area, which includes parts of Tanzania and Kenya. Look for Eucalyptus trees, birds, and Colobus monkeys in the jungle.

Day 2: From Mandara, hike to Horombo

To reach the Horombo campsite, you leave the rainforest glades and ascend a trail through the open moorlands. The views of Mawenzi and Kibo’s top are breathtaking. Mawenzi and Kibo peaks may be viewed in clear weather.

Lodging: Horombo Hut

Day 3:  From Horombo, you hike to Kibo hut

Ascending, we pass the final watering site before reaching the Kilimanjaro saddle, which lies between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. Upper heathland vegetation appears first, then fades into “moonscape.” Dinner, relax, and get ready for the peak ascent. Hike 13 kilometers to Kibo hut, 4,732 meters above sea level, in 6 hours on average. You’ll now come across magnificent mountain vegetation such as Lobelia, big cactus, and groundsel.

Meals: Lunch and Dinner

Day 4: Hike Kibo to the peak and descent down to Horombo Hut

Begin the ascent to the top over steep and heavy scree or snow up to Gilman’s point on the crater rim very early in the morning (between midnight and 2 a.m.). Ascending farther, we will reach Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest peak. At every turn, there are jaw-dropping views. Because of distances, Get up at 2:00 a.m. for a summit pre-descent attempt. Gilman’s Point, at 5,681 meters above sea level, takes 5 hours to reach. Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest peak at 5,896 meters above sea level, takes an hour to get from Gilman’s. For the night, descend to Horombo hut. To show your friends and family, have your photo taken at the peak. We descend from here, pausing at Kibo for lunch and a breather before heading to the Horombo campsite. This ascent begins in the dark, and headlamps or flashlights are required. You’ll need all of your warm garments until you start descending since it’ll be really chilly.

Day 5: From Horombo , transfer to Arusha

Following breakfast, we descend steadily across moorland to the Mandara Hut. Descend down the lovely woodland route to the Marangu National Park entrance. It might be muddy and damp at lower levels. The use of gaiters and trekking poles will be beneficial. Shorts and t-shirts will most likely suffice (keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy).
